Clients and collaborators at This Is Marketing are celebrating as the company marks International Women’s Day by officially naming Kirsten Stephen as its first Partner and company Co-Owner.

“I have watched this company grow for six years now, executing behind the scenes, and knew there would be an opportunity to add my leadership approach and attention to detail. Now is the time for us to grow internally, strengthening our processes to better serve clients,” said Stephen.

Kirsten comes to This Is Marketing in Downtown Dartmouth with a track record of achievement. A graduate of StFX University, Kirsten played a pivotal role in building and selling the University’s conferencing and wedding service offering after graduation. In 2009, she struck out in search of adventure moving to Whitehorse Yukon to take a leadership role within the cities two premier Hotels (Northern Vision Development LP). There she overhauled the hotel’s conference and events efforts to dramatically improve profitability while reducing turnover and shrinkage.

From there Kirsten moved into recruitment and human resources where she led efforts for Alexco Mining Resources, helping grow the company’s operations in Mayo, Yukon - one of the coldest places on the planet!

After returning to Nova Scotia, Kirsten took on recruitment initiatives for Ambir Solutions before it was acquired by Ernst and Young. For 5 years Kirsten worked across EY services lines with partners throughout Canada to recruit highly specialized talent. In 2016, she became a mom to daughter Mille and later added her son Baker to the family in 2019.

“Since Kirsten arrived at This Is Marketing in 2020, we have experienced tremendous growth as a company; more clients but also improved project management and stronger processes - she really has proven to be a critical missing piece,” explains Art Director Nathan Hovey, adding “we’re thrilled for her and love this decision for the company.”

At This Is Marketing Kirsten now officially holds the title of Partner, Client Services.
